This makes it clear, why it is important to purchase the wires and cables after the careful evaluation and after going through a systematic buying process. But the buying of the wires and cables is not as simple and easy as it appears. That’s why we are here to help you. In this article, we will be talking about the buying tips, which will help you in buying the right wires and cables for your building, whether you are building your office or a home of your dreams. So, without any delay, let’s start the discussion.
- Material is important to consider: Electric wires are usually available in both the material, copper and aluminium. If you are wiring or are planning to do wiring for your home, then it is always suggested to go for the copper electrical wire. The reason behind this is because they are considered safer. It is also advisable to go for the multiple strands wire instead of going for the single strand wire. Apart from these things, it is most important to have an ISI mark on the package of the wire or cable. This mark ensures that the wire or cable is of an acceptable quality. Wires may be ISI 694 (part I) or IS 694 (part II) marked, but is better to go for the IS 694 (part I) marked wires. While buying wires, it should also be ensured that the wires which you are purchasing are electrolytic grade 99.97%.
- Wire insulation: Usually, it is said that a good quality wire is made up of three layers. The first layer is usually water resistant, second one is high temperature resistant and the third layer is considered fire resistant. Usually, a wire which is heat and fire resistant, carries a mark of HRFR. The temperature which the wire insulation can bear without melting is also written on the package most of the times. It will be better if that temperature is above 100 degree Celsius.
- Size of the wire: Wires comes in multiple sizes, which makes it even more difficult for the customers to choose the right one for their usage. But the most commonly used wire sizes are 1 sq. mm, 1.5 sq. mm, 2 sq. mm, 2.5 sq. mm, 4sq mm and 6 sq. mm size. It is common to use 4 to 6 sq. mm sized wires for the AC points &1.5 sq. mm sized wire for the light points and 5 ampere three pin socket points. 2.5 sq. mm sized wires are usually used for the power sockets.
Those were the major things which you should keep in mind, while buying wires and cables for any of the construction project. It is always suggested to go for a good electric wire company.
