Mini Vision Urbanaut is a Future Minivan

Remember the concept of the Urbanaut Mini Vision that was first seen on the BMW NEXTGEN event in 2020, people-shaped pills with autonomous driving features and sustainable construction? Well, the mini and BMW have built a prototype that functions from Urbanaut’s vision. The real life work model of the mini vision for mobility will make the world-premiere July 1, 2021, at the summer DLD conference in Munich, Germany.

“With our eyes remaining in the future, we develop ideas with Mini Vision Urbanaut, about how we can take mini attributes to the future of mobility and interpret it in a way that is usually a mini,” said Bernd Körber, Mini head.

The mini has perfectly summarized the vibration ‘cold and roaming’ with the vision of Urbanaut. For example, the rear seat bench configures several sitting and lying positions, and backlit loops can dim or enlighten for the maximum effect. Meanwhile, you get a central folding table with a table lamp in the middle area.

Also, the Urbanaut vision has a side door wide open and folding windshield “which creates a welcoming scene that blurs the boundaries between the outside and inside,” Mini said, but the folding windshield, indeed, the welcome feature when relaxing at the campground.

Long, about 4.46 meters, it offers a maximum cabin room with the smallest trace, reminds us of the iconic VW type 2 microbus, which also revives as ID.buzz eva.

Of course, you still need to ride things, and mini mandatory with powertrain all electricity, details that are still unknown at this time. However, you may not need to have an automatic driving function. But if you insist on driving it, knocking your finger will issue a pedal and steering wheel.

But the biggest draw is sustainability. Mini Vision Urbanaut has more recycled and sustainable materials such as wool, polyester, and tencel. In addition, the floor section and the feature of the cork recycling steering wheel, while the interior is without anything that resembles the skin or chrome.

The best part? Mini presents a model that can be passed instead of just a static prototype. We are not entirely convinced whether urbanut vision is entering production immediately, but do not be surprised if it arrives at the dealer in the next two or three years. If there is, the upcoming summer DLD conference in Munich will give mini ideas if the Urbanaut vision is cooked for production.
