Parrot Anafi Drone is a 4K HDR flying camera

The best drone is what you have with you, Parrot said, therefore the newly folded Anafi drone is very compact. Don’t be confused with a small size with lack of ability, mind. With 4K HDR video recording, several new automatic shooting modes that want to make you Alfred Hitchcock next, and the flight time is 25 minutes, there are many things that are preferred about Anafi Parrot outside the scale.

All the same, it’s hard to ignore compulsion. Carbon fiber reinforced frames have folding arms, and Parrot has designed them to open and close quickly to make you fly faster. Indeed, the company claims you can go from unpacking into the air in under one minute. The 320g drone comes with a tote bag, although unfortunately there is no room there for the remote skycontroller.

Power is the modesty of the released 2,700 mAh lithium-ion battery, and instead of requiring the external Parrot Charger has added a USB-C port for it. There is a USB-A cable to USB-C in the box, and Anafi supports USB-PD for the fastest possible charging. With a compatible 24W charger – sold separately – you see 90 minutes. Expect about twice that time for ordinary chargers. Four LEDs show cost status.

Full full cost for 25 minutes flights, with anafi capable of up to 34 mph. It has a range of up to 2.4 miles, thanks to a radio system and a new antenna that is integrated into each leg. Perhaps more important, calm: 35 percent calmer than long parrot 2, and – in the testing of its own company – half the volume of rival drones in the category.

In front there is a 21 megapixel camera with 4K HDR video support, with optical image stabilization. It is installed on a gimbal with 180 degree slope support, so Anafi can see far above or up to the bottom. Parrot claims lossless digital zoom too, with enlargement up to 2.8x – even at full HD resolution. If you hold fast at the maximum resolution, meanwhile, the drone will capture up to 100 MB / second bitrate, and have a 1.4x lossless zoom.

If you don’t mind sacrificing the range, you can drive Anafi from your smartphone and parrot application 6 alone. However, for the ease of maximum use, you want to use Skycontroller. It has a folding smartphone holder, with your iPhone or Android device connecting via USB for direct video.

There is turning off at the back to control the zoom and camera angle, along with the reset button that quickly brings you back to default. All shooting modes and drone settings are handled through the application. That’s where you can switch between movie and sports modes – the former prioritizes smoothly to record video, while the latter focuses on speed and agility – and chooses between various camera modes.

Not because nothing is a parrot that describes Anafi as a “flying camera” not just drones, after all. There is an ordinary follow-me mode to track moving subjects – although unfortunately without avoidance of smart objects such as Skydio R1 (more expensive) offerings – and automatic framing objects. You can choose two or more points on the area map, and have Anafi automatically drive the way among them.

However, there is also a parrot who calls “SmartDronies”: a more impressive effect. Most of the striking is Zoom Dolly, the effect of filmmaking files popularized by Vertigo where zoom and focal length changed in tandem. The end result is the same subject, but with a strange curved background around them.

There is also slow motion, with 1080p on 60 fps taking, along with hyperlapse mode. High frame rates are also supported, with shooting speeds that can be customized by users. Pro camera mode allows manual control over the shutter speed, ISO, White Balance, and exposure; Or, you can leave the camera to find out for yourself, and rely on HDR to balance extremes.

As for safety, there is an optional geofencing, with the ability to define zones outside where Anafi cannot fly. Parrot has also developed a smarter return-home feature, which monitors the current battery level to find out what the actual safe range is. It can handle wind speeds of up to 31 mph.

The consumer drone room has been proven unexpectedly competitive. It’s no longer visible for the evidence that the Gopro made a surprise decision to leave the karma range, even though it is not only a serious investment but it seems to have strong sales. The model is increasingly affordable from DJI and the others have forced the extra creativity of drone makers, such as Anafi intelligent shooting modes.

Parrot said the Anafi drone will go on sale in early July. We will have a final price immediately.
